Nottingham Arena
The Nottingham Arena is large indoor arena in the centre of Nottingham where numerous indoor sporting events and concerts are hosted. Nottingham Arena is also notable for being home to the National Ice Centre. The National Ice Centre features two full Olympic sized Ice rinks and was originally opened by British ice skating champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. The Ice Centre also doubles up as the Nottingham Arena where a variety of events take place. Although the National Ice Centre is home city’s very own ice hockey team, the Nottingham Panthers it is also open to the public and there are numerous skating courses on offer there.
The Nottingham arena has numerous configurations to suit different events, but when it is configured to hold it’s maximum capacity Nottingham Arena can cater to 10,000 people. The venue has played host to numerous major acts throughout the years including Elton John, Rod Stewart and Oasis, all of whom have played to sell out crowds at Nottingham Arena. Nottingham Arena has also hosted a number of major indoor sporting events as well as the numerous musicians and comedians who have performed there.
The location of the Nottingham arena is one of its greatest benefits. It is located in the city centre making it easily accessible by public transport which is unusually for large arenas which are usually located outside of the city centre and are only accessible by car.
