Nottingham University
Nottingham University is the fifth largest university and one of the most highly regarded institute of higher education in the UK. One of the most famous graduates from Nottingham University is the novelist D.H Lawrence.
There are six main campuses affiliated with the University of Nottingham, University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus, The City Hospital Campus, Sutton Bonington Campus and the King’s Meadow Campus. Each of these campuses features various academic buildings and halls of residence. There are fifteen different halls in total spread across the six campuses, some offering catered accommodation. In total Nottingham University has enough rooms in their halls of residence to house six thousand students, most of whom will be undergraduates.
Competition for places at Nottingham University is extremely high and it reported to have one of the highest applicants to place ratio out of all the universities in the UK. It is widely recognised as being one of the leading universities in the country and its placement in ranking tables reflects this. It was also been voted as the ‘University of the Year’ by the Times Higher Education supplement in 2006.
Nottingham University is also recognised for having two international campuses affiliated with it, in China and Malaysia. The China campus has a attracted a certain level of controversy due to the limitations placed on freedom of speech by the Chinese government and how this could effect students at the University.
